Another Weekend

Posted: September 20, 2010 in BMX racing

This past weekend we had rain, I was sick and there was a UCI race and ABA National in CA.

Check out the UCI race on Freecaster.TV and the ABA national on

Sorry that I don’t have more to say, but I spent most of the weekend sleeping off the flu.

It’s Monday

We had some rain last week, some in the way that Noah had a lot of rain.  About 8 inches of rain hit the track.  The track didn’t do too bad, it’s been worse.  It still needed work before we could race Saturday.

Friday night about 8 guys showed up to help.  We worked for about 2.5 hours and got the ruts filled in ready for the drag before we left about 10pm.  That was a good thing.

Saturday we got to the track and watered and dragged the track.  That smoothed out some of the rough spots and got the track ridable.  A quick chalk lining and we were racing.

Thank you to everyone that came out and helped with working on the track.

New Rennen Gear

Posted: September 8, 2010 in Bikes, Gear, Product review

While up in De Soto racing the State Finals at Metroplex BMX Zoie was having a hard time pedaling.  She had a good lead then suddenly stopped pedaling.  Turns out there was an issue with her chain ring.  I didn’t want to mess with it so I took it over to the shop and let them work on it.  They asked what I wanted, I saw they had some Rennen gears and said that will do.

Zoie needed the five bolt version.  Rennen makes some fine gears, it’s all I have now for my bike so I knew they’d work great for my 7-year-old daughter.

The coolest feature of the Rennen gear we got was that it doesn’t need half of the chain ring bolts.  The nut is removed from the setup as the gear is threaded making installation easier.  I am guessing that removal will be just as easy.

I wish they had this feature for the 4-bolt chain rings as Rennen does make execellent products.  I don’t have really anything else to say about the ring we bought two weeks ago and probably won’t ever.  It’s on a 7-year-old girls bike, what’s the odds that anything should happen to it?

New Sign at the Track

Posted: September 3, 2010 in LoneStar BMX

Today LoneStar BMX got the new signs.  The new sign is much more visible.  IBC Bank is the new major sponsor and their sign looks great.

Too bad it rained today and we couldn’t open the track.
